Much to say about fashion - Stella McCartney

“I can honestly say this industry hasn't made me neurotic about my looks, except maybe my weight. I hope my clothes kind of reflect that. They're meant to make you feel good.”

Stella McCartney

If I had a sugar daddy...

There's just something about this dress that really draws me to it. I am partial to black & white, and it's simple, yet elegant.

A little bit of Chanel inspiration

Summer is more than halfway over, fashion addicts, but here are some images from Chanel's Summer 2007 collection. Along with some runway shots, here are some celebrities all glammed up in Chanel. Wish I could get all the free Chanel stuff they run behind the stage to get! (and can anyone guess who is behind those signature C's above?

Blog of the Week - Fashion Lolita

My feature blog today is Fashion Lolita. I love the interesting posts about fashion, and along the side, Juliet has put some guilty pleasures in the form of a Model & Look of the Week along with a fashion muse among other fun extras. And her quote at the top of the page is priceless "Balls are to men what purses are to women." Gotta love Sex & the City! Her latest post is about an Italian Vogue spread that to me is very interesting in itself - it plays on the recent Hollywood panty-showing, rehab-going obsession. Thanks, Juliet, for a stylin' blog!

Much to say about fashion... and style.

Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.

Should you buy it? Rusk Thermal STR8 Flat Iron Spray

I have had curly hair my entire life. As a young girl, I really struggled with the cascades of curls. I started looking much like Orphan Annie and by the time I was in high school, my hair was longer, but still difficult to make beautiful. Like most people, I wished my hair was straight because it was curly. I am sure I would have felt the opposite way if my hair was naturally straight!

I grew to love my hair, especially during college, because fixing curly hair was so easy and perfect for rushing to classes last minute or throwing up some last minute style for a night out on the town. Alas, it seems my beautiful curls have somewhat left me and been replaced by not-so-fun, somewhat un-pretty waves. With this new hair type, I am back at the beginning, struggling to make it work and be easy. In the interim of me mastering my hair, I have began straightening with a flat iron almost every time I wash it. I have extremely dry hair so I (gasp) don't wash my hair every day so I hope that can cut down the damage caused from the Chi flat iron I received for Christmas three years ago. Side note: The Chi straightener is AMAZING. Do not buy anything else but this; it is the best.

But back to my product evaluation. I have tried a few flat iron sprays to keep my hair healthy during the abuse I put it through while straigtening it. The ones I have tried include the Chi Iron Guard and Big Sexy Hair Soya Want Flat Hair and Rusk Thermal STR8. The best one, hands down, is the Rusk one.

Pros: Fine mist (the Chi version is a pump spray and not as effective), protects hair, leaves hair feeling silky (Big Sexy Hair attempt makes your hair NASTY - I used it once and threw it away.), makes it 10 times easier to use the flat iron, smells delicious (but I don't eat it:)

Cons: Tall bottle is hard to tote around to my boyfriend's and/or family's since I am gone almost every weekend

Much to say about fashion - Audrey Hepburn

"I'm just crazy about Tiffany's!" Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

“My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dresses.”

“You can always tell what kind of a person a man really thinks you are by the earrings he gives you”

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.”

I am the biggest fan of that last quote, and of Audrey Hepburn.

Oh, Tiffany...

My last post got me thinking about rings... and diamonds... and beautiful engagement rings. A girl can't help but think about that spectacular day and wish for that special ring. If I could have this really fabulous ring, I would pretty much think I had died and gone to heaven. Who needs a sugar daddy when you have online shopping:)

Oh, I do!

If I had a sugar daddy...

Like many girly girls out there, I have had somewhat of a love affair with Tiffany & Co. It's just so Audrey Hepburn, so diamonds-are-a-girl's-best-friend and just so much of what we all want in a fairy tale. Oh, sigh. While perusing the Tiffany site (blue box bliss, darlings), I found this ring, originally designed by Paloma Picasso, daughter of the amazing painter. I am so into the big-ring craze, and this one just does the ticket for me - 8 carats of understated elegance. Still, all I can think about is diamonds and a gorgeous white gown. Hey, sugar daddy...

JANE magazine leaves the fashion scene

After 10 years of production, JANE magazine is folding. If you receive this magazine, this is your last issue. I was not a subscriber to this magazine, but the times I picked it up, it always seemed upbeat and fun, and it was a great tool for finding fashions and fantastic products. Guess it kinda proves to you that it's hard to make it in the fashion magazine world, especially with the community of fashion/beauty bloggers out there now!

Conde Nast, home of the fashion magazine for its 10-year run, thought about it in a different way.

"We worked diligently to make Jane a success. However, we have come to believe that the magazine and Web site will not fulfill our long-term business expectations," Conde Nast Publications Chief Executive Charles Townsend said in a statement.

The magazine was targeted to gals in their 20s (me!), and Jane Pratt founded it in 1997. Pratt left the company in 2005. Their website, janemag.com, is also going offline. Never fear, my fashion mag-aholics, there are many fashion magazines (and blogs!) out there for us to get our information!

P.S. Doesn't Drew Barrymore rock this cover?! It's freaking adorable.

Should you buy it? Gillette Venus Breeze

Your girly blogger is here to help you - by testing beauty products to give you more information for your future purchases. The first product is the Gillette Venus Breeze 2-in-1 razor. It is much like Schick's Intuition - a razor with the shaving gel/cream built in for easy use and quick showers. First of all, I was a hard-core Schick Intuition girl until recently. While shopping in the lovely Target, I found the Breeze on clearance. Now, I wish I didn't buy all those extra replacement razors for the Intuition in bulk from Amazon.com. Once I tried the Breeze, I decided it was much better than the Schick Intuition. So as soon as I run out of refill razors at my boyfriend's pad, I am going to have to replace that Intuition with a Breeze, too.

Pros: Smells good, leaves your legs feeling very silky, easier to maneuver around knees and ankles than Intuition, better bikini-area shave, less cumbersome

Cons: You could hate the smell, cartridges are expensive, have to hang to dry

Much to say about fashion - Giorgio Armani

“I've always thought of the T-shirt as the Alpha and Omega of the fashion alphabet,
... The White T.”

This Armani jacket is just adorable and could add a little asymmetrical fun to a rather straight-laced workplace.

Blog of the Week - View from the Porch

This blog by my friend Sarah is not a fashion blog, but she is stalking a gorgeous pea coat. View from the Porch is just a great place to stop and read some superb writing and fun stories. You will soon realize what I mean. Here is the current quote at the top of her page:

"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else." ~Judy Garland

Plus, she has all kinds of delicious recipes, and I often use them, especially the lemon cookies (pictured at right)!

If you love ice cream like me, you might also check out the sundae ice cream cake. I am going to have to make it sometime! Of course, I will have to eat it in moderation so I can still fit into all those fabulous fashions!
